Sedation Dentistry

Sedation for Dental Treatments

also called Twilight Dentistry

Sleep dentistry is a process used to achieve a relaxed, easy and calm state by using sedative medications during a cosmetic dental treatment or any other kind of dental treatment. It is commonly thought that when sedated you are asleep but in fact you do not sleep at all during the procedure. The sedative may put you in a sleepy state and cause you to have very little memory of the procedure.

Sedation dentistry, also commonly called sleep or twilight dentistry, is becoming a popular choice for patients who are anxious or looking to have extensive work done in one appointment. There are different types of dental sedation that we use depending on your specific needs.

Most people don’t require any dentist sedation or just mild oral sedation but we have many options including nitrous oxide (laughing gas), tablets, inhalation anaesthetics or intravenous sedation where a visiting doctor administers medications that remove anxiety and make you sleepy.

There are many options for sedation and if this is something you are considering then the best thing to do is make an appointment to discuss your options.

Twilight Dentistry

The most important part about being relaxed at the dentist is having a relaxing environment. At Mendelsohn Dental on Royal we do whatever we can to help you relax. Whether it means playing your favourite DVD on the overhead screen or having your favourite music playing, we are always here to help.

If sedation is something that you may be interested in then contact us to get more information on how we can help.
